the wlglConversations User Guide - Tricks with Text

This is the page where you learn all sort of natty tricks such as

- how to format hyperlinks

- how to post emojis

- how to post images

- how to format text to make it coloured, Bold, Italics and so on.

Formatting:

Bold

insert text

Italic

insert text

Strikethrough

<strike>insert text</strike>

Underline: seems to work but only until a page refresh

insert text

Coloured text isn't currently possible

Where it says 'Insert Text' is where you place the text you want to change.

Links

The hyperlink - where you click on a word or phrase and it takes you to another page or site - is relatively simple. To create one use the following example:

Text

simply insert the URL link where it says "LINK" inside the inverted commas and the words you want to link where it says "TEXT".

Emojis em

Beloved by all, now, most forums have a palette from which you can choose. Which? Conversations doesn't, so link to

http://emojipedia.org/

http://getemoji.com/

to copy and paste your favourite emoji from there.

Posting Images

Looks classy and it's easy to do. Here's how:

1. Find the image you want to insert.

2. Use your browser to select the image and choose 'View Image". If your browser doesn't allow that, look for the image on Google / images.

3. Right-click and choose "Copy image location" or "Copy image address" or "Copy image URL". If that all fails, use Google's 'View Image", then copy the URL from the browser.

4. In Conversations, click Paste. The image will appear after you click 'Submit'.

Initialisms and Acronyms

Initialisms are simply sets of initials that we use instead of an entire phrase, e.g. ISTR -"I seem to remember", and Acronyms are a set of initials that you can say as a word, e.g. LOL - "Laugh out Loudly".

Here's some of the most common of both types:

LOL: Laugh out loud(ly)

IIRC: If I remember correctly

ISTR: I seem to remember

IMHO: In my humble opinion (many omit the 'humble)...

More will be added as time goes on.

Special text: subscript / superscript etc.

W?Cs can't provide for this so the only option is to copy and paste.
